My Luxury stay at the Doubletree By Hilton Glasgow Central Hotel
Written by Nikki – Grandio Travel
Venturing into the hustle and bustle of Glasgow City Centre with just my carry-on bag and handbag, I felt super ready for my two-night stay at the DoubleTree By Hilton, Glasgow Central. All glammed up and somewhere to go, I was heading somewhere special. Little did I know, that the heavens would open up and literally chase me to the Hotel. If I had been 5 minutes earlier, I could have missed the abundant ‘fresh’ Glasgow rain shower coming my way, while my straightened hair and makeup would have stayed intact. Instead of my smoothly planned entrance, the friendly Reception staff were greeted by a defeated drowned rat. The Reception lady was very professional might I add, and she didn’t say a word about me being a drenched mess, but I may have felt more comfortable if she had added in some weather banter though, just to break the ice!
I have to say, the check-in process was flawless. The Reception ran me through the full hotel amenities, and covered the locations of the bar, restaurant and pool, while asking if I had any questions. Politely spoken and eager to please, the Reception lady went above and beyond to exceed my expectations. The icing on the cake, was when I was handed the famous Doubletree By Hilton chocolate chip cookie, …yum yum!

I was overjoyed when found out that my room was placed on the fifth floor, because that usually means a scenic view, and I was right. Upon entering my room, I was met with a luxuriously lit hallway filled with sturdy natural oak wardrobes. The bathroom was snug, but with a sleek colour scheme and an abundance of modern lighting, my surroundings radiated allure and pizzazz. I could feel a bathroom mirror selfie coming on! After my mini fashion shoot, I took a further look at my room. I was hugely impressed by the large wall-mounted TV, executive desk and the trendy lime green seating area, but what grabbed my attention the most, were the humongous windows with a view. I could almost feel that someone had squeezed the entirety of Glasgow into my hotel room, there was a magnificent atmosphere going on that’s for sure!

I couldn’t resist plunging onto my bed head first and testing out the fluffy pillows. It was almost certainly time to turn on the TV and relax, especially after my woeful travel session. My large widescreen TV displayed a surprisingly large selection of channels up to the 1000 mark, it was fantastic having so much choice. I didn’t use my executive table and desk, but just having them there made me feel I was in superior surroundings. The room was not overdone with bold colour, instead, I was captivated by the room’s neural yet classic and warm tones. At this point, I was nearly refreshed enough to pop down and check out the bar.
Having freshened up and dried my wet hair, with the complimentary hotel hair dryer I was ready to check out the rest of the hotel. As I headed downstairs and progressed to the open Cask bar, I was dazzled by the characterful vintage style that was emitted throughout the ambiance of the room. With rich ruby red seating, ambient lighting and cooling retro vibes I instantly felt at home. I didn’t even have to wait long at the bar, when a friendly bartender told me to sit down and she would bring my drink over. I ordered like a pink prosecco fruity spritz, and might I add – it was amazing.

No hotel stay is complete without gourmet fine dining. During my stay, I explored the tasty cuisines of Glasgow, but I also thought I would take advantage of what the Hotel had to offer. I’m a big fan of room service as it is, but I was truly astonished when I found out I could order my dinner from my bedroom mirror! At the touch of QRI code button, I could scan the code on my bathroom mirror with my phone, and up popped the flavorsome menu. I tend to think most hotels are limited nowadays when it comes to the in-room dining options, but I was rather spoilt for choice with this menu.
My first night I had the richest and creamiest chicken tikka masala curry, paired with fragrant rice and soft naan bread. I wasn’t sure my beefburger the next night would top the curry I had previously, but it managed to be just as amazing. On a roll, I ordered some fruity cocktails with my dinner, which complimented my food nicely. I was taken aback by the wonderful service I received from the in-dining team and the exceptional-quality food. Breakfast was excellent too, there was a bunch of different hot and cold options ranging from continental pastries, yogurts, cereals, and fruits to hot foods such as eggs, tattie scones, sausages, hashbrowns, beans, toast, and more..

In a nutshell, I thoroughly relished my time at the Doubletree by Hilton, Glasgow Central and I would unquestionable stay again if given the opportunity. The rooms were elegant and spacious with all of the amenities you would expect from a high-standard hotel. The Hotel itself was expansive and sleek, the housekeeping and cleanliness of the hotel were of a high standard, plus the food was on a different level. The staff could never do enough for you, they always seemed engaged and willing to help at every moment and that made me feel ultra special. Security-wise, I always felt safe with the hotel’s keycard processes in place. You always needed a key card to access each floor of the hotel, and that put me at ease right away. Overall, I adored my stay massively, thank you again to the Double Tree By Hilton, Glasgow for having me!
